Welcome to the Starfish Room, we cater for children aged from 15 months to 3 years of age. We abide by the ratios of 15 months to 2 years old 1 Educator to 4 Children, and for the 2 to 3 year olds 1 Educator to 5 children. Our lead educator in the room is Miss Jessie who holds her Diploma in Children’s Services.
In this room we are focusing on children’s individual needs while nurturing their developing skills through kind and respectful relationships. For this we incorporate experiences to increase the children’s social and emotional skills helping them to develop language, positive social interactions with peers, independence and autonomy skills.
We use the Early Years Learning Framework as a platform for all our curriculum programming and have a strong desire to work with each child’s family to create goals and experiences that are beneficial for each child attending the centre. We work with the child’s interests and strengths to develop age appropriate activities and experiences that parents can read about daily by accessing their children’s profiles on our online app See Saw after receiving instant notifications on your mobile device that your child has a new item to view.
We encourage sustainability throughout our service and in particular utilise Nature Play QLD activities into the curriculum weekly, to get our children out and about outside and in the community by creating our own gardens, vegetables patches, getting children to help water our gardens, saving their food scraps to feed the chooks, feeding our pet fish and incorporating nature items into art and craft activities.
We look forward to working with you and your child in the near future.
